Our Programme – B. Braun Sheffield Sharks IDA Basketball
B. Braun Sheffield Sharks Inspire Development Academy (IDA) has been built around a clear, proven player development pathway, influenced by successful systems used across elite European basketball and UK performance programmes.
B. Braun Sheffield Sharks IDA is designed for players who show genuine passion for the game, a strong desire to improve, and the commitment required to develop at a high level. The programme focuses on enhancing each athletes:
- Technical skill
- Tactical understanding
- Physical performance
- Mental approach and professional habits
Players develop their game through skill execution, basketball IQ, attitude, and performance consistency, giving them the platform to progress towards the professional and semi-professional game.
Alongside regular competitive fixtures, students have opportunities to take part in showcase games against academy, semi-professional, and professional opposition — increasing exposure and competitive experience.
Data-Driven Development & USA Pathway
A key part of the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks IDA model is our partnership with Maximise in the United States.
Through this collaboration:
- Player performance is tracked using a data-driven development model
- Physical metrics, skill progression, game performance, and development trends are monitored
- Individual player profiles are built to support long-term progression
This structured tracking approach helps identify players with the potential to progress into opportunities within the NCAA system in the USA (subject to performance, academic standing, and recruitment fit).
The partnership provides aspiring student-athletes with a clearly supported route toward the U.S. college basketball pathway, alongside their UK-based development.

All B. Braun Sheffield Sharks IDA training takes place at the Canon Medical Arena in Sheffield — a purpose-built, world-class basketball and performance facility.
The Canon Medical Arena provides:
